Matchday Impostor
A solo deduction round: a football clue and a set of players, and you have to spot the ones that don't belong.
What is Matchday Impostor?
Matchday Impostor is a solo deduction game. You get a football condition and a set of players, then you must mark everyone who does not belong. Unlike Party Impostor, there is no bluffing with friends — it is you against the clue, and the round only counts when the full set of impostors is correct.
How to play Matchday Impostor
- Read the football clue — for example, players who played for a particular club.
- Look through the set of players shown.
- Pick out every player who does not match the clue.
- Submit only when you think the full impostor set is right.
What counts as a finished game
A round only counts when you get the whole condition right — if the clue has three matching players, you need all three correct.
Strategy tips
- Re-read the clue carefully: “played for” is not the same as “won a trophy with”.
- Eliminate the obvious fits first, then pressure-test the leftovers.
- Watch for loan spells and short stays that still count as “played for”.
- If two players feel borderline, compare eras — squad lists change by season.
- Do not submit partial confidence; a single miss fails the counted round.
- Use it as a warm-up before Bingo or LINK when you want career facts fresh in your head.
Example round
Clue: players who have played in the Premier League. Four faces appear; three are clear Premier League names and one spent their career only in Spain. Marking that single outsider — and only that outsider — clears the round.
Frequently asked questions
- How is this different from Party Impostor?
- This mode is solo deduction. Party Impostor is a multiplayer bluff-and-vote game.
- Do I need every impostor marked?

- Are clues always about clubs?
- No. Conditions can cover clubs, countries and other career facts in our data.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with points for counted finishes.
- Can I retry?
- You can start another round from the games hub after you finish.
- Why was a player marked wrong?
- Their career record in our database did not match the clue — or did match it when you thought they were an impostor.
